This blog has been a long time coming. I apologise for that but I'm in the process of swapping my laptop from a Mac to a PC and this has been problematic as far as transferring photos from my phone to the computer.
I will have this rectifies by Week 7. The students are all going very well. We have a practising student-teacher with us for all of Term 1. Her name is Ms Drynan. I have been focusing on students' listening skills as they are fundamental to student learning. My focus is 3 things that make a good listener: 1) Stop (whatever you are doing) 2) Look (at the person who is speaking) 3) Tune your brain in to what is being said. You might like to discuss these elements with your child sometime. Your child has brought home Homework for the first time this week. IT will normally have a longer due by date but this week we do need it returned by Friday March 6. Nearly all students have brought in a Home Reader and are getting into the routine of borrowing. As I get to hear them read their take home levels will increase. Please feel free to visit us in the classroom anytime. The students love and appreciate any help in the room, as do I! Remember that Library is on Tuesday each week and it would be so good to see all students borrow books and enjoy reading books. Our Library holds thousand of dollars worth of books that can be borrowed for free! I have had a number of absences this term that will settle down after Week 7 but having the same relieving teacher, Ms Yasmin Blundell, allows for greater continuity. Mrs Julie Frost |
